Sport Report - Week 1 Term 4


GOLF

Cosmo Graham represented Hawke’s Bay Junior Golf playing number 1 in the team at the New Zealand Inter Provincial Golf Tournament in Hamilton during the first week of the holidays .

He then represented the Hawke’s Bay Men’s golf team this last weekend in the Shand Cup which is an inter provincial tournament between Wellington, Taranaki, Manamatu-Wanganui and Hawke’s Bay (along with Mr Duff) in which he won all his matches .
 



CRICKET

Pre-seaon mini tournament played during the school holidays.

SHOOTING

South Island/NZ Schools Champs was held in Hastings during the school holidays as well as the North Island Championship Hamilton.

16 boys from Lindisfarne competed in the South Island/NZ event, several with distinction.

 

NZ Schools South Island Results:

Points Score : High Over All : Kees Tomlinson

Single Barrel:  High Over All : Bryn Thompson,  3rd : Monty Rosewarne

South Island Teams: 4th: Lindisfarne ‘A’(Harry Lowry, George Hamilton, Monty Rosewarne, Sam Lowry, Bryn Thompson)

The ‘A’ team was in a 3 way tie for 2nd on 281/300 and after a shootoff placed 4th after Hamilton BHS(282), Otago BHS(281), Hauraki Plains College(281).

New Zealand Points Score Junior: 2nd Jack Hamilton (This is the first year there has been a Junior category)

New Zealand Single Barrel : 2nd Sam Lowry

New Zealand Teams : 2nd Lindisfarne ‘A’(Harry Lowry, William Apatu, Monty Rosewarne, Sam Lowry, Bryn Thompson)

The ‘A’ Team was 2nd on 349/375 behind Waiuku College on 350/375.

New Zealand Skeet 2man Team: 2nd Harry Lowry and Sam Lowry(46/50)(the winners were on 47/50)

New Zealand Aggregate High Gun(DTL & Skeet): Sam Lowry(Harry Lowry was 1 point behind and if there was a 2nd placing given would have been 2nd meaning that over the 2 combined disciplines we have the 2 top shooters in the country)

Harry Lowry was a member of the North Island Skeet Team that took out the North vs South match.

Fish & Game Regional Teams Challenge Open Team saw the Hawkes Bay Team (Harry Lowry, William Apatu, Kees Tomlinson, Sam Lowry, Bryn Thompson) 2nd on 222/250 behind North Canterbury 224/250. This is the first time since the 2007 inception of this trophy that any regions open team has come from the one school further indicating the strength of our shooting squad.

We only had 8 boys competing in the North Island Champs.

Final results from the SI/NZ Champs we have subsequently been advised that the ''A'' squad retained  the Kilwell Postal Shoot Trophy won last year after an absence of 16 years, on 214 one point ahead of Hamilton Boy's ! 

Bryn Thompson was also 2nd highest individual score on 98 with the 1st score from Clark Ewing of St Kevin's College on 288. Bryn who shot 48/50 in the Fish & Game Regional shoot then shot off for a place in the individual score shooting 49/50 to place 2nd.
 



SAILING

Carl Marshall has now made the switch to sailing O’pen Skiff from Optimist. During the recent school holidays he competed and trained in the following events:

In the Spring Youth Regatta came 5th, the race was abandoned on day 2 with winds gusting 40knots.

Winter Stack Regatta Murray’s Bay and came 4th

Carl has also been awarded at Napier Sailing Club 2019-2020 prize giving

TENNIS

Jonathan Fall reached the singles final of the Tennis Manawatu Open, eventually losing to the current New Zealand men’s number 16 in the final.  He beat both the number two and fourth seeds to reach the final.  Jonathan also won the doubles event, beating the top seeds 11-9 in the third set super tiebreaker.

 


 

BOXING

In the recent Giants Boxing Tournament Jett Varcoe in the under 42kg, won against W Wiseman
 



FUTSAL

Guy Bayly has been selected to play in the national Men’s Futsal SuperLeague for Central Men’s Futsal Squad on 31/10/2020 and 22/11/2020.  Two series over two weekends in Wellington and Auckland.

 


 

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Noah Hemmingsen competed in the national secondary school mountain biking event in the U13 endro event and places 17th after taking a spill on the 1st trail.

He also competed in the Napier Doug Wiser Enduro last Sunday and came in 5th in the under 15 age group category.

 


 

KARATE

Antoni Milewski has just been awarded his black belt in Karate.
