Since we returned from lock-down Mrs Harrison, our librarian, has been trying to encourage the boys to use the online library app which can be found on the far right of the Lindisfarne Intranet page under the icon Lindisfarne Library. This takes visitors to the library app as seen below. The app features new books in the library, book reviews, a tutorial video and links to sites that are helpful for book selection, literature studies and accessing audio books.
Anyone can visit the app as a guest but boys can log in (with their normal user name and Kamar number as their password) to see their individual records on the library software. They are then able to reserve and renew books or send requests to the librarian to get help or access materials. They can also set up their profile so that they receive an email every time a new book by their favourite author (or in their favourite subject area) is acquired by the library. The great advantage of the app is its accessibility particularly when doing research from home. Apart from searching for library resources, boys can also search a list of curated databases, many of them paid for by the Ministry of Education under the EPIC banner. These include National Geographic, Te Ara - New Zealand’s online encyclopaedia and TVNZ among others. Why not take a look and see how it can work for you and your son.
