Summer Sports Colours Awarded


SWIMMING

Marshall Soanes 

Marshall is an outstanding swimmer who just continues to improve. He is highly motivated and very driven to succeed. He was runner-up Lindisfarne Senior Championship swimmer in 2020. He was a member of the team who won the HBSS overall school Champs. He gained four second placings in backstroke, freestyle and butterfly events. At the NZSS Champs in 2019 his best placings included 2 7th’s and an 8th placing in 15 year olds and gained PB’s in 6 of his 7 events. At the National Short Course Champs 2019, he gained a number of top 10 placings in 15 year olds.

Jake Stephens 

Jake is an incredible swimmer, who remains amongst the best in his age group in NZ. His devotion and self-discipline to swimming has reaped the rewards he so justifiably deserves. He was the Intermediate Lindisfarne Champion for 2020. He was a member of the team who won the HBSS Champs 2020. He placed in all of his events, winning two in backstroke and individual medley. At the NZSS Champs 2019, placed in three events: 1st 100m backstroke, 1st 200m backstroke and 3rd in 50m backstroke. He also gained 5th place in 100m butterfly.  Jake swam in 8 events at these champs and earned PB’s in 5. He competed at Short Course Nationals 2019 earning places in a range of events.

Cole Scott 

Cole is a very determined and resilient swimmer who is gaining the successes now that he justifiably deserves. He was the Senior Lindisfarne Champion 2020. Member and captain of the team that won the HBSS Champs 2020. He gained two second placings in breaststroke and freestyle events at these champs. At the National SS Champs 2019, best placing of 11th in senior boys breaststroke and gained PB’s in all 5 of this events. In open water events, Epic Swim Lake Taupo placed 2nd in 1km and 3rd in 5 km swims.

 

TRACK & FIELD

Mitchell Snell 

Mitchells record speaks for itself. He will go into Lindisfarne’s records as one of the great middle-distance runners and he still has much to achieve in this discipline. He was the NZU18 Champion in the 800m. At the NZSS National Champs, 3rd Senior 800m, 2010. At the ECNI Champion, Senior 800m, member of record breaking 4x400m relay team in 2020. He was selected to represent ECNI region at NISS Champs. Placed first in the open men’s 800m at the Capital Classic in Wellington v international competition. He is a multiple record holder at Lindisfarne College.

Callum O’Keefe

Callum is an extremely exciting and talented young runner with enormous potential. At the NZSS Champs 2019, Junior 800m placed 4th. ECNI Champs 2020, Intermediate 800m 1st place and was a member of the record breaking 4x400m relay team. Selected to represent ECNI region at NISS Champs 2020. Is a multiple Lindisfarne College record holder.

Charlie Roil 

Charlie continues to improve and sets himself extremely high standards and is a very gifted athlete. At the NZ national champs 2020, he placed 4th in the U18 400m. NZSS Champs 2019, Junior 400m 2nd place and 800m 5th place. At ECNI Champs 2020, he was the Intermediate 400m champion, finished 2nd in the  800m , 4th in Javelin and was a member of the 4x400m record breaking relay team. He was Selected to represent ECNI region at NISS Champs 2020.

Tom Goodisson 

Tom has enormous potential in the steeplechase event and very high fitness levels and willingness to train have produced success. At the NZSS Champs 2019, in the Junior 2000m Steeplechase he placed 6th. At the ECNI Champs 2020, Intermediate 2000m Steeplechase he placed 1st in a new record time. He was selected to represent ECNI region at NISS Champs 2020.

Cooper MacDougall 

Cooper is beginning to realize the very high levels of ability that he has and his willingness to train and practice has begun to pay dividends. At the NZSS Champs 2020, he placed 4th Junior shot put. At the ECNI Champs 2020, 3 titles: 100m placed 1st, 200m placed 1st, Shot Put placed 1st and was selected to represent ECNI region at NISS Champs.

 

FUTSAL

Luke Foster 

Luke is an impressive athlete and a fine student of the game indoors and out. He is technically a good player. He trains well and always looks to create a positive team environment.

Selected for central futsal squad. He was a member of the LFC 1st futsal team for last 3 year and was in our squad to travel to nationals this year in Wellington. A quality commanding player and when not on the court leaves a huge hole.

Sam Wall 

Sam is an impressive all-round athlete and a fine player of the game. He is a patient and technically gifted individual who has been a member of the Lindisfarne 1st futsal team for last 3 year and our squad to travel to nationals this year in Wellington. He is a quality, skilful and commanding player. Sam was Selected for central futsal squad in 2019.

 

SAILING

Carl Marshall 

Carl always helps the team offering advice, guidance, and assistance to the less experienced sailors. Carl is heavily involved in the pre-sailing set up of the boats to help the other sailors with rigging. Carl is a very competitive sailor; his sailing results follow.

2019/2020 Season:

Open Bic Nationals Napier 8th (6th Kiwi)

2019 Season:

2019 Represented NZ at Qingdao China – placed 13 out 230 sailors and 3rd kiwi.

2019 Recipient of Dawson Sportsmanship Trophy – for integrity.

 

CRICKET

Sam Cassidy 

Sam has quickly become the First XI’s top allrounder, opening the bowling and batting at number 3. His batting is technically very sound and he has played a number of crucial innings, including 74* in almost saving one of our inter-School games. His bowling has been standout this season with his 6/11 against Rathkeale setting up a win in that game. His fielding and catching in particular has been excellent. He prepares well and is always looking to improve his game. He was part of the Gillette Cup Tournament team in 2019 that came fourth in New Zealand.

Batting 469 runs @ 31.9 HS 82, Bowling 42 wickets @ 11.9, Econ 3.7. 7 catches.

Finn Calder 

Finn Calder has been the first choice wicket keeper in the First XI in 2020. He is a balanced athlete who takes the ball cleanly and smoothly. He is a great motivator and assist in field placements using a depth if understanding of the game. He has played some important innings that have given the team winning opportunities during the season. He is an excellent trainer and always gives of his best in every scenario. He was part of the Gillette Cup Tournament team in 2019 that came fourth in New Zealand.

Batting 279 runs @ 18.6. Catches 15

Brandon Roberts 

Brandon has been Vice - Captain of the First XI in 2020 and been a reliable contributor to all aspects of the team. He is a great student of the game, trains intensely and is always working on the craft of off-spin bowling. He is a determined batsman who never gives his wicket away. His off-spin bowling is accurate and often team wickets are due to him tying up an end. He is a committed fieldsman and has made point his area of influence. He is a great example to younger players. He was part of the Gillette Cup Tournament team in 2019 that came fourth in New Zealand.

Bowling 31 wickets @ 23.5, Best 4/11, Econ 3.1. Batting 176 runs @9.3. Catches 11

Lovepreet Padda 

Lovepreet is an impressive athlete and a fine student of the game. He is a patient and technically correct batsman, a sharp pace bowler and the best fielder in any team he is in. He has batted with great consideration to the game situation on a number of occasions. He trains well and always looks to create a positive team environment. He was part of the Gillette Cup Tournament team in 2019 that came fourth in New Zealand.

 

Battings 704 runs @ 37.1, HS 77. Bowling 11 wickets @ 26.5, Econ 5.1. 10 catches

Representative Honours Hawkes Bay Under 15

Fred Mowat 

Fred has been Captain of the First XI in 2020 and has led from the front. He sets a fantastic example with his attitude and determination. He has played some useful innings this year but it is as an opening bowler that he has made his mark. He is quick based on great rhythm and efficiency and accurate. His 6/28 in the Gillette Cup game against Havelock North High School was a deserved honours board effort and his final four wickets, all bowled, against Rathkeale was a match winning performance. He is a great fieldsman, often effecting runouts at vital times. He was part of the Gillette Cup Tournament team in 2019 that came fourth in New Zealand.

Bowling 64 wickets @ 18.9, Best 6/28, Econ 4.8. Batting 207 runs @ 15.9, HS 63*. Catches 14.

TENNIS

Jonathan Fall 

Jonathan has had an excellent season. He is currently ranked number 1 in Tennis Eastern (Hawke’s Bay) at U18 level. He is Number 1 player in Lindisfarne Senior A Tennis Team (Captain). Is a Member of Tennis Eastern Christie Cup Squad, which is a regional representation comprising the top Men’s Tennis Eastern players. A member of the Greendale Men’s Premier League Tennis interclub team. Winner of Kennedy Park U18 Tournament at Greendale in December 2019. Winner of Hawke’s Bay Schools’ U18 Tournament in March 2020 and finally was selected for the Tennis Eastern Representatives U18 team.       

River Apatu 

River has had an excellent season He is currently ranked number 1 in Tennis Eastern (Hawke’s Bay) at U16 level. He is Number 2 player in Lindisfarne Senior A Tennis Team. He is a member of Tennis Eastern Christie Cup Squad, which is a regional representation comprising the top Men’s Tennis Eastern players. A member of the Havelock North Men’s Premier League Tennis interclub team. Winner of NZ Masters’ Tournament U16 B Grade Final, an invitational tournament for number 9’th to 16’th ranked U16 players in New Zealand. Winner of Kennedy Park U16 Tournament at Greendale in December 2019. Selected for the Tennis Eastern Representatives U16 team. Selected for U16 Intra-Regionals Tennis Eastern Team. Selected to represent Waikato-Bays U17 in National Junior Teams Event in April 2020.    

Hunter Every 

Hunter has had an excellent season. He is currently ranked number 2 in Tennis Eastern (Hawke’s Bay) at U16 level. He is Number 3 player in Lindisfarne Senior A Tennis Team. Member of the Greendale Men’s Premier League Tennis interclub team. Winner of Greendale U19 Club Championships. Runner-up of NZ Masters’ Tournament U16 B Grade Final, an invitational tournament for number 9’th to 16’th ranked U16 players in New Zealand. Selected for the Tennis Eastern Representatives U16 team. Selected for U16 Intra-Regionals Tennis Eastern Team.      

 

ROWING

Jacob Lorkin 

Jacob has a big future in rowing. He has been selected in the NZ Junior Trial Longlist to take place later this year. At the NZ secondary school North Island Champs, he placed 7th in the U18 Men’s Coxless pair A final and 6th in the U18 Men’s Coxed Four A final. He was due to compete at Maadi Cup, but this event was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Henry Windhager 

Henry has a big future in rowing. He has been selected in the NZ Junior Trial Longlist to take place later this year. At the NZ secondary school North Island Champs, he placed 7th in the U18 Men’s Coxless pair A final, 6th in the U18 Men’s Coxed Four A final and 8th in the U17 men’s coxed four A Final. KAYAKING

Daniel Brown 

Daniel is an exceptional Kayaker with a big future in the sport. At the NZ Canoe Racing Nationals for U18 Men’s his results were:

K1 1000 A final 7th

Hamish Macky 

Hamish is an outstanding Kayaker with a big future. At the NZ Canoe Racing Nationals U18 Men’s

ADVENTURE RACING 

Matt Buckeridge 

Matt is an very good runner and was a member of the first place team for the Triple Peaks Challenge in 2020 an exceptional achievement for a gruelling event. At the 2019 Rotorua Tough Guy and Gal he placed 3rd toughest team in his age group. At the 2019 ECNI Cross Country Relays placed – 5th. He would have competed in the ECNI Cross Country relays at Anderson Park, Havelock North at the beginning of Term Two but were unable to due to Covid-19

George Esson 

George is an very good runner and was a member of the first place team for the Triple Peaks Challenge in 2020 an exceptional achievement for a gruelling event.
