College Assembly - 21 February 2020

College Assembly - 21 February 2020

Kia Ora and Good afternoon School.  Please be seated.

Bible Reading:  Today’s reading comes from Mark Chapter 12  and will be read by Head of Boarding George Charteris

Thanks, George.

Love God and Love your neighbour – a simple message and an important message for us all.

Rectors Comments:

Leadership is something many aspire to and one of the helpful things for leaders to do is to think and plan and set some goals on a short or long term basis.

As a College we do this in our strategic plan and many of us do it annually or at the start of a term or season. It is also help to return to the goal every so often during a year and reflect on how well we are going.

At our Prefect training day I asked the Prefects to set some goals about what they wanted to achieve this year and our Head Boy, Charlie Dods is going to come and share their vision and goals, goals they will no doubt need your support to achieve.

Head of School: Charlie Dods to speak

Thanks Charlie!

Guitar

Music has always been an important part of College life and many of you are learning instruments. One of the most popular instruments in recent years has been the guitar and today our Guitar tutor, Mr Dave Boston who is a superb player and teacher is going to talk to us about the guitar, learning guitar and I believe give us a demonstration of what  can be achieved with practice on this amazing instrument!

Mr Boston

Thank you Mr Boston

Tombola Draw

The Gala is coming closer and you will be aware that we have been collecting items for the Tombola at the Gala. Those who bring items go in the draw to win a prize and we are going to make a draw today.

Congratulations to our winners. There is another week to go so do bring along your items and we will have another draw next week.

Rectors Final comments:

On Monday we have our College Swimming Sports. Please ensure you are well prepared, show positive support for your friends and house and be respectful to those both organising and competing especially at the start of races.

Good luck to all our teams playing this weekend also.

A reminder that this Sunday evening at Chapel is another very special one, as we share in the commissioning service of our new School Prefects for 2020. I look forward to sharing this special occasion with you.

The Chaplain, will close our assembly in prayer.
