RUGBY
· 1st XV had a convincing win over Te Aute at home on Saturday. It was a slow start with Te Aute scoring the first try. We soon hit back with a number of tries getting a big roll on. Te Aute scored in the last 5 minutes of the second half but it was beyond reach. The man of the match went to Moeki Sokotaua. He started on the wing having some strong runs and then moving into halfback where he caused the defenders problems around the ruck.
Tries: Reece Akuhata (2), Ben Thomassen (2), George Charteris, Fred Mowat (2), Moeki Sokotaua, Kings Tupuola, George Twigley (2), Charlie Dods, Harry Mowat Con: George Twigley (12/13) Fulltime score: 85-19
· 2ndXV won 17-15 against Wairoa
· 3rdXV won 50-5 against NBHS. The boyswere really pushed physically by NBHS. The lineout was again dominant. The forwards ran well especially Te Omeka Sigley, Mike Unwin featuring strongly and Chris Belhamel again making big in roads. The backs were challenged, but coped well on defence despite several big positional shifts. Jake Thompson again ran and defended well from fullback, with Charlie Roil and Tom Goodison leading the team from half back and 1st V. James Pike was awarded player of the day for his finishing of an excellent team try, and for his continued improvement for the Might 3rd XV.
· Well done to the boys selected for the first trial for the HB U16 team: Tuawhio Porima, Corban Watson, Kingshouse Tupuola, Lansen Randell, Adam Akuhata, Tino Savea, Jasper Wallace, Felix Paul, Ben White, Bruno Wylie, Grayson Hesketh, Matawhero Wakefield SciaScia, Tom Druzianic, Bryn Thompson, Jono Kilsby and Fred Mowat
