Read Your Height in Books!

This year the library is running a challenge for boys and teachers to read their height in books and the number of entries has been quite overwhelming. In fact, the library is running out of space to display the towers of books (photocopied spines stuck to the glass dividers, not actual towers!). The last time this competition was run was 5 years ago and the only entries were Daniel Diprose (now academic prefect) and Mrs Harrison (Lindisfarne Librarian). Mrs Harrison did manage to achieve the goal with a few selected additions of fat graphic novels, but Daniel far exceeded her total as his pile of books climbed up the wall and onto the ceiling!

This time round, in order to encourage more entries, boys have been allowed to enter in groups of up to 3 (the group must share the reward at the end) and are able to read graphic novels for the challenge. Many boys have chosen this quicker option but some are sticking to reading novels. Each boy/group who completes the challenge will get a reward which will definitely be of the edible variety! This promotion is a fun way to promote reading in the College but also to highlight how many boys do spend time reading and how positive and useful, this can be. The colourful piles of books arranged on the glass walls in the library are a great resource for boys who are looking for something to read and can select a book which has been enjoyed by another boy.
