Lindisfarne Competes Successfully at the HB District Chamber Music Competition

Recently, three Lindisfarne College chamber music groups competed successfully at the Hawke’s Bay District Chamber Music Competition. Quinn Le Lievre (Piano) together with Ivy Wu (Violin - Napier Girls’ High School) and Isaac Cox (Violin - Taikura Rudolf Steiner School) performed as “The Note-Able Nortons”, and reached the Hawke’s Bay District final, which only included the top eight of the 34 ensembles that entered. Here they were award “Highly Commended” as one of the runner-up groups. A fantastic result for Quinn and his ensemble!

The brass quintet “Quintessentially Brass” won the KBB Music Award putting them just outside the top eight groups that made the final. “Quintessentially Brass” includes William Duncan (Trumpet), Leo Guo (Trombone), Quinn Le Lievre (Trombone), Julia Spurgeon (Tenor Horn – Home Schooled), and Rachel Hansen (Trumpet – Woodford House). "Quintessentially Brass” was invited by the adjudicators to play at the end of the HB District Final.

“The Junior Lindisfarne College Trio” of Leo Johnson – Flute, Josef Oosthuizen – Violin, Daniel - Piano performed convincingly and were praised by the adjudicators for their sensitive performance. These boys are currently only in Year 9 and 10 and were competing against senior musicians. The positive feedback from the adjudicators was a great result for these boys as they only started playing together late in Term 1.

Well done to all involved and special thanks to the coaches of the groups, Mrs Jan Beck, Mr John Snowling and Dr Flemming Kristensen.
