CRICKET
Intermediate 2nd XI cricket finished the season with a well-deserved win against Hereworth.
We made 100 runs with Ethan du Toit and Thomas Griffiths top scoring.
After 10 overs Hereworth were on 45 runs and the match was 'getting interesting'. Tight fielding and regular wickets falling meant they were restricted to them to 65. Everyone bowled really well, with the 'catch of the season' being taken by Navjot Thiara - a regulation gully catch which was moving quickly. A great positive season. With only one loss suffered.
The Colts A had their final game of the season on Saturday 27th March completing a comfortable seven wicket win against Napier Boys' High School. Gordy Chatfield took 3 wickets in Napier's total of 83. Jack Sunckell made a fluent 35no and Oscar McDonald a brutal 32no to secure the win.
FUTSAL
During summer tournament week Futsal went down to play in Wellington. This was the team’s first time down at NZSS FUTSAL champs at an amazing arena. The boys came up against some very good opposition but did themselves and the school proud.
The boys have learnt a lot from this experience and this will serve well for the up coming football season as well as the term four futsal season.

The team won a close contest 2.5-1.5 with Lines and Christie having wins and Pike a half. Ericksen fought hard to come back from a large deficit to narrowly win.

Our Senior A Red team was a bit depleted this week due to production, but we beat Karamu 2-0 and lost to Napier Boys High 2-0 – first loss of the season but we should still be into the finals in top position next week to meet our goal of winning Division 2.
Senior white had their first win against Karamu on Wednesday!
BLOKARTING
9 teams entered the competition on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th. Our team consisted of Beau and Carl Marshall and Flinn Balchin. Lindisfarne placed 3rd which is a really good achievement.

Highlight of the event would have to be the dominance in the senior relays with the A team of Cole Searle, Marcus Sisam, Marshall Soanes and Jake Stephens evident in both the freestyle and medley relays. The B team gained a third and a fourth placing in these. In the juniors the A team were second in both the freestyle and medley relays with the B team third and fourth.

HAWKE'S BAY INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021
It was a very proud but small team that represented Lindisfarne at the HB Intermediate Schools Swimming Champs, and with very impressive results. The Year 7 boys finished second overall and the Year 8’s third but the fact that their were only 8 swimmers in total meant it was always going to be hard to compete overall with the bigger schools.
The relays whilst being the most exciting proved to be excellent for the Lindisfarne team with the Year 8 team of Beck Allen, Elliott Wickham, Will Worthington-Thin and Ashton Taylor winning both the medley and freestyle relays. The year 7’s, comprising Sam Skidmore, Monte Douglas, Liam McEntee and Ollie Fritchley gained second in the medley and first in the freestyle relays.
The best individual results were:
Sam Skidmore: 1st 50m freestyle
1st 50m backstroke
1st 50m butterfly
2nd 100m freestyle
Will Worthington-Thin: 1st 100m Individual Medley
1st 50m backstroke
2nd 50m butterfly
3rd 100m freestyle.
A very successful evening of swimming.
SCOTS EXCHANGE
TENNIS
For the first time in at least 15 years, Lindisfarne beat Scots College convincingly by 10 matches to 2 in the Tennis exchange. Hunter Every, the captain and number 1 player, won his singles match, dropping just three games, but he and Jackson Lambert had a tough doubles match, finally winning 10-6 in the third set super tie break. The match of the day must go to Kees Tomlinson, who came from back from a set down, and 4-2 down in the second set, to finally win 10-8 in the third set super tie break.
All the boys played very positive tennis in adverse weather conditions.
CRICKET
A vastly experienced Scots College First XI travelled to Lindisfarne College deep into March and the provincial heartland and home of the Hawke Cup.
Scots won the toss and batted in determined fashion to 197/9 declared. Finn Reid bowled well to take three wickets in his 23 overs. Lindisfarne survived two nervous overs where the close in fieldsmen tried to cramp the batsman up. The second morning arrived and the first session was washed out. After lunch Lindisfarne failed to establish any rhythm in their innings and were dismissed for 85. Lindisfarne then fought back well through the heroics of their captain Lovepreet Padda.
Lovepreet bowled very quickly to see four Scots batsmen dismissed in as many deliveries - a double hatrick in cricket parlance. The fourth an emphatic ricking back of the off stump. Lindisfarne continued to frustrate the Scots innings into the next morning and dismissed the visitors for 120, with Lovepreet Padda taking 6/25 off eleven overs and Sam Cassidy three wickets. Again Lindisfarne failed to establish partnerships and floundered to 114, a loss by 121 runs.
RUGBY
After our trial on Wednesday, March 17 we named a 1st XV squad of 22 to play PNBHS on March 27.
1st XV vs PNBHS we led at halftime 15-7 after two late first half tries to Tino Savea and Sean Lagikula. Monte Timu kicked a conversion and a penalty in the first half. PNBHS went on the attack early in the second half, scoring 3 tries and had control of the game 15-28 before Lindisfarne finished with a late surge. We scored two further tries to Monte Timu and Lanson Randell. Final score 25-28. We had attacked well during the game but our set piece defence and kick chase let us down at times.
1st XV vs GBHS we dominated the visitors from the start, scoring a good try to Grayson Hesketh in the opening play of the game. We again controlled the ball well on attack and were getting very good front foot ball from our forward runners. We scored two further tries before halftime (Kingshouse Tupuola and Tino Savea) to lead 27-0 at the break. Our defence was much better during this game. Tino scored two more tries in the second half to go with a fine team try, finished brilliantly by Tuawhio Porima. Final score 44-5.
