STUDENT CAREERS Careers education allows students to access to a wide range of information on careers and tertiary education. Support and guidance is offered to enable them to start planning their future and make informed choices about their transition from school to further study, training, jobs or careers.
Individual counselling and career advice is available from our Careers Advisor.
The Careers Office provides a range of services, opportunities and experiences that encourage students to make informed choices about their future career pathways through:
One-on-one interviews for all Year 13 students
One-on-one interviews for all other students by appointment
Career education programme in Year 11, 12 and 13 (part of Life Skills programme)
Specialist speakers from industry or tertiary institutes to provide up-to-date information to students
Assistance with subject selection and preparation for tertiary study
Facilitating the attendance at STAR (Secondary Tertiary Alignment Resource) courses such as Defensive Driving, Barista and First Aid.
Specialist programmes for other groups e.g. Maori, Programme Incubator
Study Link sessions
Follow up visits from liaison staff of tertiary institutes to help students with applications
Full and part-time job vacancies advertised in the department and online
