Through the creation of the Lindisfarne Sports Academy (LSA), the college is aiming to provide sport related support for every student, build their confidence and give them enduring life skills.

We all know that knowledge can be powerful, but knowledge is only learned with support. This is why the LSA is aiming to support all students no matter what their goals, to improve in sport and acquire life skills.

To help achieve this the LSA has three tiers;

High performance

A program designed to support our Year 11 - 13 students who are in our senior 1st teams or performing well in their chosen sport.

To be the best

A program designed to encourage our Year 9 & 10 students who are in the top junior 1st teams or performing well in their chosen sport.

Health and wellbeing

A program designed to support every student at Lindisfarne through specialist programmes aimed at building knowledge around nutrition, resilience, confidence and mental awareness.

  • Through funding we will have specialist coaches and/or a technical director aligned with every sport at the college.
  • They will take 1st team of their core sport or be associated with all teams within their core sport
  • Give technical assistance to all players within their core sport
  • Give technical and tactical assistance to all coaches within their core sport
  • Present on at least three occasions to students/coaches of the program.

We have a full-time Strength and Conditioning Coach at the College who will support every level of the Academy and tailor a program to each student and team’s needs.

Guest coaches will support training sessions throughout the season for the majority of our sports at the College

*The HP sessions and Aspire sessions will run one after the other, but the session will target the specific age group and level of our students.

Through team and individual sports, lifelong learning qualities of resilience, persistence, loyalty, sportsmanship, leadership and fair play are learned.

For 68 years there has been a demonstrated commitment to sport at Lindisfarne College. We are the only boys-only College in Hawke's Bay to have a compulsory sports programme for all students. Our programme is designed to build character and confidence through student participation in competitive and/or recreational teams and individual pursuits.

We recognise that learning and practicing the skills required to become fine young men can be done on the field and other sporting arenas as well as in the classroom.
