Update from Rector - Tuesday 24th August

Kia ora, Parents and Caregivers

After confirmation from the Prime Minister that we will remain at Alert Level 4 until 11.59pm on Friday 27 August, I wanted to reassure you that our college staff will continue to be available to support your child’s learning and wellbeing in the coming days.

Teachers will continue to deliver our online learning programme and we appreciate your support in encouraging your son to follow his regular timetable of work and engage in all activities. If you do need support, please let us know and we will try our best to help.

Moving into a Level 4 lockdown is a major transition and it brings all sorts of feelings to the surface, including frustration, worry and anxiety. We have some helpful links and information for mental wellbeing on our Covid-19 Updates page on the College website that may be helpful.

The senior leadership team are currently planning for potential change to alert levels over the coming weeks. As we prepare for a move to Alert Level 3 we would like to get an indication of how many students would need to return to school. Under Alert Level 3, we anticipate that schools will reopen for these students, although is it always preferable that students continue to complete their remote learning at home if possible. Please be aware that the hostel will NOT reopen at Alert Level 3.

Please fill in the form using the link below to indicate whether your son/s will be returning to school at Alert Level 3. It is very important that all families complete the form so that we have a full return to assist us with our planning. Please complete the form by this Thursday 26 August 5.00pm.

As always, please let us know if there is anything you need to support you and your children during this time.

Ngā mihi,

Stuart Hakeney
