Student Support

Every student known, valued and supported.

Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

We are committed to creating a school community where every young person feels known, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. Through outstanding pastoral care, wellbeing initiatives, learning support, and personalised guidance, our dedicated team helps students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working in partnership with students and their whānau, we create an environment where every learner feels confident, connected, and ready to succeed.

Student Wellbeing

Our staff take the time to know every student as an individual - who they are, what matters to them, and how they can best be supported. From the classroom to the sports field, cultural activities, service, and everyday interactions, meaningful relationships are at the heart of College life.

These strong connections enable our staff to provide personalised guidance and encouragement as each young man grows in confidence, character, and capability.

Wellbeing isn’t just a word, or a nice to have. It’s essential to learning and personal growth. When a student is healthy, and feeling good, they shine. Their ability to retain information increases. Their demeanour changes. They become more positive, more excited by life, and more able to change and develop new skills.

All of our policies and processes are designed to support boys as they grow into confident, caring and well-rounded young men.

Set within beautiful park-like grounds, Lindisfarne College offers a calm and inspiring environment that supports student wellbeing. Mature trees, open spaces, nearby walking tracks, and on-site facilities including a swimming pool and gym all encourage students to maintain a healthy balance of body, mind, and spirit.

Students learn the importance of healthy habits, including good nutrition, quality sleep, and balanced technology use. These everyday practices help build resilience, improve wellbeing, and support academic success.

For our boarders, established evening routines - including phone-free time after lights out - help promote healthy sleep habits and ensure students are well rested for each new day.

Learning Enhancement

Our Learning Enhancement programme supports every learner to achieve their personal best. We provide individual support for students with specific learning needs, alongside extension opportunities through our Gifted and Talented programme.

Seminars and workshops are also offered to support student learning in areas such as study skills, essay writing, and effective learning strategies.

Support services

Every student is supported by a dedicated Year Level Dean who provides pastoral care, guidance, and encouragement throughout the year. Our horizontal Dean structure allows each Dean to develop specialist knowledge of the needs and challenges associated with a particular age group.

Through regular meetings, assemblies, and ongoing communication with students and families, Deans help maintain high expectations while recognising individual achievement and supporting student wellbeing.

The House system at Lindisfarne is part of the rich tradition and heritage of the College. Houses help to foster a sense of belonging and a strong team spirit, through competitions across the four cornerstones of the College: sporting; academic; service; and cultural.

House activities give students an opportunity to develop their leadership skills, enjoy the camaraderie of shared endeavour, and act as role models for younger students. Our four Houses are Cuthbert (black), Aidan (red), Durham (green) and Oswald (blue).

Student careers

We recognise that the key to success, both within school and without, is for students to have a passion for subjects and interests that ultimately lead to a satisfying career where students reach their full potential.

Our Careers Advisor provides our Senior School students the necessary information and confidence to face a succession of options, decisions and career choices.
