College Staff

  • Lindisfarne Staff

Lindisfarne College staff are a well-qualified and experienced team of professionals. Unlike most schools, all staff are closely involved in extra and co-curricular activities (it is obligatory for full-time staff to coach a sport team), which help them develop close relationships with the boys in their classes. As the 2008 ERO team observed, “Strong positive relationships between students and teachers support the establishment of settled, learning-focused classrooms”. Teachers ‘go the extra mile’ to mentor boys, and with an average senior class size of under 15 boys, more individualised teaching is possible. Lindisfarne’s top academic results can be directly attributed to the high quality of the teaching staff.

  • New Staff in 2010

Mr Karl Jones (Science) has taken over from Miss Sarah Hay. Mr. Jones is an Old Boy of Lindisfarne and returns to the College after teaching at Hastings Boys' High School for eleven years where he was Head of Agricultural Horticultural Science and was Dean of Year 11. Mr. Jones is also a successful Rugby coach. He is currently in charge of the New Zealand Secondary Schools' team which defeated its Australian counterpart in the 2009 season.
