Student Leaders’ Welcome

  • Head Boy 2010

My name is Abraham Corban and I feel very privileged to take on the role of Head Prefect at Lindisfarne College for 2010. I am looking forward to the year ahead and the challenges it will bring. I aim continue to foster and develop the strong traditions held here at Lindisfarne along with a highly motivated group of Prefects and senior students present at the college.

Prior to Lindisfarne I have attended Maraekakaho Primary School and Havelock North Intermediate. I have grown up with three siblings, in the township of Bridge Pa, 16km west of Hastings, entering Lindisfarne College as a boarder in 2006. My time at the Secondary School has involved many different aspects of life, including Culture, Academic, Sporting and Spiritual, the four cornerstones of the college, in which the staff and students both have shown enthusiasm to ensure all students become well rounded. I have been training hard along with 7 other students at the college and other Hawke’s Bay Secondary School athletes in the sport of Rowing at the Hawke’s Bay Rowing Club. I also enjoy playing Rugby and Basketball throughout the winter months.

Next year I hope to be studying Law at either Victoria or Otago University. But before then I aim to grasp the opportunities this role provides in terms of personal development and growth in leadership skills. With this year’s group of Prefects and wider senior year groups we are going to strongly uphold and maintain the core values that have been present at Lindisfarne over the past 57 years. With a good group of boys leading the school this year, we have to also act as positive role models throughout the school and wider community as this will hopefully encourage positive interaction within our college. Finally, the main aspiration for the 2010 group of prefects is to uphold the standards and traditions of Lindisfarne College, providing our own unique character and positive leadership techniques on the College. I am enthusiastic about the challenges that 2010 is to bring and hope to continue Lindisfarne College’s proud history.
