Grant Lander Grant Lander, Rector

Lindisfarne College is a Years 7-13 integrated boys’ school, founded under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church. It is situated in the city of Hastings, in the province of Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. It caters for both boarders and dayboys. Of the roll of 480 students, half are full or weekly boarders for whom the College is both their place of residence and their schooling.

If you are new to the College and are interested in sending your son to Lindisfarne, we hope that this website will give you and your family a sense of the flavour and the culture that operate within our school.

We are widely recognised as one of the highest performing schools in New Zealand with an enviable record of academic, sporting and cultural achievements and successes. Our committed and dedicated staff continue to work with a talented and motivated student body, on a beautiful campus.

Lindisfarne enjoys a great relationship with present and past parents and its Old Boys.

As a College we strive to produce fine, well-rounded young men. Our school recognises the importance of balance and excellence. Our motto, ‘Founded on Tradition, Focused on the Future’ stresses the importance of the values and principles we expect our students to live by. Our boys are taught to be independent, responsible and accountable. We want them to excel scholastically but we want them also to show humility, a genuine concern for others and strive to pursue virtues such as honesty and integrity.

Participation in sporting and cultural activities is an integral part of school life. Our students are asked to challenge themselves mentally, physically and spiritually.

Pupils are encouraged, challenged and supported throughout their development. Lindisfarne celebrates the values of being a school for boys. There is a strong recognition of the strength in focus, friendship and camaraderie amongst the boys and staff.

In short Lindisfarne is a family-orientated school, with top class facilities and teachers and strong traditions and unashamedly high student expectations. We pride ourselves on the personalised education we are able to provide for our boys. We work hard as a school community to give our best for the students in our care.

We are delighted that you are taking the opportunity to find out about our College—a College that we are all highly proud of.
